Milwaukee PBS Logo

Milwaukee PBS is southeastern Wisconsin’s premier non-commercial media organization. Milwaukee PBS consists of two high-definition television stations, WMVS and WMVT, and seven additional digital television services. The Milwaukee PBS stations are the area’s only over-the-air source for PBS and other national public television programs, and also offer a diverse schedule of their own award-winning local series and specials. Each year, approximately 60 MATC students gain real-life industry experience working alongside Milwaukee PBS’s professional staff, on Milwaukee PBS’s local weekly series, and also special on-air student showcases like “Student Operations Day” on WMVT. These students are enrolled in MATC’s Associate of Applied Science Degree program in Television and Video Production. Throughout its history, Milwaukee PBS has made local productions a priority, in order to provide viewers a local perspective and give a voice to its community. Milwaukee PBS’s programs offer a platform for the African-American and Latino communities, offer local political opinions a place for expression, allow viewers the ability to experience the local arts scene and more. Current locally-produced weekly series include; 10THIRTYSIX, ¡ADELANTE!, AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN, BLACK NOUVEAU, OUTDOOR WISCONSIN and THE ARTS PAGE. Milwaukee PBS also produces several specials each year, such as MAKING OF MILWAUKEE and BEHIND THE PEARL EARRINGS: THE STORY OF DICKEY CHAPELLE, COMBAT PHOTOJOURNALIST.
