10 Minutes with…Bob Dea

10 Minutes at Annual Meeting with Bob Dea, PBS SoCal, Vice President, Corporate Underwriting

  1. How long have you been working in Public Television?
I’ve been with PBS SoCal almost 4 years.
  2. Can you share with us details about a project you’re currently working on that really excites you?
The most exciting project my team is working on right now is probably the Hollywood Bowl Experience. Together with Development and Membership the station is trying to offer a unique experience for our Donors, Members and Board at the Hollywood Bowl this Summer. Hopefully the experience will be the template for other events at the Bowl.
  3. What was your favorite part/session of Annual Meeting so far?
Networking. I always walk away with new ideas!
  4. What is your biggest Annual Meeting or DevDay takeaway or favorite part?
My favorite part of Annual is always seeing the new content. Can’t wait for Civilizations!
  5. What did you learn at the meeting that you plan to incorporate into your work back at your station?
I learned that if done correctly, we can stream our sponsors content via our Social Channels.
  6. What is your favorite PBS series or program?
My favorite series are Masterpiece and NewsHour.
  7. If you could switch places with any PBS character, who would it be and why?
Poldark! Although I wouldn’t mind being Prince Albert!
  8. On days that you’re feeling a little tired or overwhelmed, and you imagine going ‘off-the-grid”… what is your ideal situation? Where do you go?
Up in the San Gabriel Mountains on my bicycle… with all the rain it’s gorgeous right now. Or, just having dinner with my wife and daughter.
