WHUT has trained 88 international professionals in the last 22 years. Four to six people from Africa, Asia, Caribbean, and Eastern Europe are selected each year to participate in an Introduction to Public Television Broadcasting.

This intensive two-week program provides an overview of U.S. public television. The course covers policy, management, planning, engineering, production, programming and promotion. The course also includes visits to relevant federal, national and local agencies.

On June 13, 2017, PBS Development Services was honored to host the 2017 cohort that includes participants from Paraguay, Brazil and Malawi. The group received a comprehensive overview of fundraising for public media. The enthusiastic group engaged in conversations about the impact of on-air fundraising, planned giving and major giving as revenue opportunities to consider in their respective countries.

PBS further engaged with our international colleagues in conversations about the PBS Satellite Operations Center (SOC), Learning Media, Strategic Audience Research and Technology.
